hey there!

hi I'm lady e'yvette, it’s nice to meet you

Hello, Mama! I’m a NICU mom, just like you. While my baby rested in the NICU, another baby was birthed – this blog. As an African American woman, I noticed a gap in voices that looked like mine, even though the NICU journey knows no color. My goal with The Second Womb is to provide solace, a haven where every mom, irrespective of her background, finds warmth and connection.

this is my why

“Now, this is a story all about howMy life got flipped-turned upside downAnd I’d like to take a minuteJust sit right thereI’ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air”

– Lyrics/Song by DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince

Not quite but almost! When my pregnancy journey started, the NICU was not in my birthing plan. BUT! it’s now part of my story. I’m the mother of an amazing baby boy. He is my inspiration and strength to keep going and to do the impossible. He’s a tiny warrior and I’m proud that he gets to call me Mama. He’s my why! Didn’t realize how this journey would affect me and inspire me at the same time. The days I sat in the NICU with tears rolling down my face, I didn’t really have anyone to talk to who had a journey like mine. Once I was able to think straight,  I decided to do a blog for NICU mamas. We are unique and strong and walking the NICU  halls makes us apart of a special society. I pray this blog and its resources can be an inspiration and escape to other mothers out there.

we may be soul sisters if

you are the greatest project you will ever work on.

i got you, mama. check out more resources.
